How SFM and UKHarvest Sussex Are Supporting Local Families This Christmas

Our partnership with UKHarvest Sussex continues to grow as we support local families across Sussex. Many households are feeling the pressure of rising living costs from increased food prices to higher energy bills. At Sussex Facilities Management (SFM), we’re committed to helping local families access practical support that makes everyday life easier, more affordable, and more sustainable.

This autumn, we partnered with food rescue charity UKHarvest Sussex to donate 10 energy-saving air fryers to be raffled across several Community Food Hubs in Sussex, including Burgess Hill, Chichester, Haywards Heath, Southwick and Worthing.

These hubs provide affordable food, support and education to local residents, with no referral needed and everyone welcome. For many families, especially as energy costs rise, using an energy-saving air fryer can make a significant difference, helping households prepare nutritious meals while keeping bills down.

Why Energy-Saving Air Fryers Matter

With Ofgem’s latest energy price rise, simple, cost-effective solutions are more important than ever. Air fryers are a highly efficient appliance that supports both healthy cooking and food waste reduction in Sussex.

“As a delivery partner for LEAP energy advice, we’re committed to supporting community projects that make a real difference,” says Mark Jackson, Managing Director of SFM. “Air fryers use much less energy than conventional ovens, so they can help people save money while still enjoying home-cooked meals.”

A Partnership Creating Real Community Impact

UKHarvest’s work across Sussex goes far beyond food distribution. Their team educates households on reducing food waste, cooking affordable meals, and feeling confident feeding their families on a budget.

“Partnerships like this show the positive impact businesses and charities can create together,” says Sian Georgeou of UKHarvest. “Combining food education with energy-efficient cooking gives households practical tools to save money and reduce waste.”

This work directly aligns with SFM’s values of Care, Relationship, Simplicity and First-Time Resolution, and reflects our commitment to empowering communities throughout Sussex.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge (2-9 December)

This year, UKHarvest is also taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, a national matched-funding campaign that doubles every donation made between 2-9 December.

For local families facing food insecurity, doubled donations can go even further in supporting Community Food Hubs in Sussex and expanding food waste reduction initiatives across the county.

What your matched donation can do:

    • £5 to £10 – meals for two days

    • £10 to £20 – meals for four days

    • £20 to £40 – nearly a week of meals

It’s a powerful way to support UKHarvest’s work and help even more households across the region.
